Our Staff

Our principal, Ms. Janice Mayhew, received her Early Childhood Diploma (with Montessori option) in 1974 and has been working in Montessori schools since that time. She has gone on to complete both a B.A. (Hons) and a M.Ed degree and was awarded an Advanced Montessori Diploma from the St. Nicholas Training centre in 1978. Ms. Mayhew also works as our Teacher Education Director. She is also a lecturer for early childhood (3-6) and Elementary (6-9) courses offered through N.C.M.E .

All directresses (teachers) at L.M.S. have as minimum qualifications, a University degree or College degree, as well as Montessori training. Some of our directresses hold a B.Ed. degree as well, although this is not compulsory for our staff. Most of our classroom assistants have University degrees and some are involved in completing their Montessori training as well.·

Resource teachers work in our Toddler and Casa programmes, assisting and assessing our children with special needs. Resource consultants from Children First work in Speech therapists, physiotherapists and occupational therapists. A Resource Assistant works with our elementry children who have been identified as having special needs such as ADHD, LD, etc.
