During
the course of the day at Lakeview Montessori School, the
children are involved in both group and individual lessons.
Besides the time spent working with the Montessori equipment,
a portion of the day is also taken up with French lessons, art
activities, theme lessons, activities and singing.
Frequent field trips also play an important role in Montessori
educations |

Our
elementary program students range in age from 5 to 13years and
must attend five full days per week. Maximum student: teacher
ratio of 15:1 and 25:2.
Additional
staff for music, a resource assistant for our children with
special needs, workers on government grant programmes,
volunteers and frequent student teachers further reduce our
overall ratios |

Junior
elementary students aged 5 to 7 years old (K-Gr.2) use
Montessori hands-on materials to build (spell) words with
moveable letters, study parts of speech, add, subtract,
multiply and divide in the thousands with materials, learn
about the world with puzzle maps, and history with timelines.
Children further their reading skills quickly with our well
laid out Montessori materials for phonetic and later
non-phonetic, work. Emphasis on Reading comprehension is
always stressed.
Intermediate
elementary students aged 8 to 10 years old (Gr.3 - Gr.5), work
with hands-on materials to complete daily and later weekly
assignments which are geared to their level. They complete
projects (eg: countries, housing, etc.) which are presented to
their class, and build their confidence and skills with
success in a variety of challenging assignments.
Senior
elementary students aged 11 to 13 (Gr.6 - Gr.8) work
with weekly assignment sheets which are geared to their
developmental level. These students learn how to manage their
time as they complete the required work at their own pace.
Montessori equipment is still available for use to help them
understand advanced concepts such as decimals, percentages,
sentence analysis. Our
senior elementary graduates meet the academic requirements of
high school with ease and confidence.

Montessori
education employs this mixed age grouping so that children may
move at their individual appropriate academic pace, whether
fast or slow while staying with their social peers. Children
also have the opportunity to teach and assist others with
subjects they have learned about. This
provides a review of their skills while developing confidence
and self esteem. The mixed age group also mirrors the
world they are lpreparing to enter and provides the
opportunity for fully developing the skills required to live
effectively in our society.
